Traditionally, reetha (soapnut) and shikakai (literally meaning “fruit for the hair”) has been used in India as a substitute for the soap we use today. Reetha is known to heal eczema and soothe itchy skin, one of the many benefits of the herb. When used externally, shikakai serves as a mild cleanser and conditioner for hair, while strengthening the roots and stimulating hair growth. Shikakai is also known to relieve common scalp issues like dandruff and being a mild astringent, has the potential to cleanse your scalp by removing any dirt and grease present. Particularly during the warmer months, shikakai helps your scalp retain its moisture, keeping it cool. Both shikakai and reetha also have the potential to combat many hair problems as a result of using hard water-- such as scale build up, dryness, hair fall, etc.-- leading to lustrous and healthy hair. Furthermore, our shampoo contains acids, enzymes, foaming agents and essential oils from the crushed fruits that are rich in antioxidants. These ingredients will thoroughly cleanse and gently disinfect the scalp, making this a great shampoo to use after applying an at-home hair dye.

For shoulder length hair, take 2 tablespoons of the product and mix it with 6 tablespoons water. Lightly wet your hair before applying the product. Take half of the mixture and apply it to your scalp, gently massaging your scalp and making sure the product reaches all areas of your scalp. Rinse out the product from your hair. Repeat with the other half of the mixture. The first wash will get rid of the dirt and built-up hair oils. Then, a second wash will add shine and protect hair from environmental stressors.

Test before you're impressed: Please test a small amount of the product on a section of skin prior to using it on your scalp and hair. Discontinue use if you experience any kind of skin irritation such as itchiness, redness, etc.

Recommended Pre-shampoo Treatment: To further condition your hair, apply any hair oil or yogurt to your scalp prior to shampooing. Leave it in for at least 20 minutes before washing your hair as described above.

Note: Even if the shampoo doesn’t foam much, you will observe that it does not correlate to its cleansing capabilities.

A Note on Packaging:
